OUR CHILDREN ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES THAT BROADEN THEIR HORIZONS. THEY HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THEMSELVES AS WELL AS LEARNING KEY INDEPENDENT SKILLS. HOWEVER  THE MOST IMPORTANT UNDERLYING GOAL IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE TUCKED SAFELY INTO BED AT NIGHT. SAFETY COMES FIRST!

Focal childcare has a mature and well developed child safety system, which is taught to staff on induction and continually updated and stream-lined. We invest heavily into training with our time and resources, in particular we focus on CPI. Our company has received the coveted NSPCC child safety award.

Our units are child proof and safe, they are regularly inspected by MHL, Europe’s largest health and safety organisation.

We provide 2:1 supervision and 24/7 'high risk watch' if required and are experienced in dealing with absconding behaviour. Being pro-active and diffusing escalating situations with tailored distraction and diffusion techniques is the secret of our success.

Our staff are used to looking after children with violent and disturbed behaviour. We understand that children with learning disabilities may express their sadness, frustration and even joy by physically lashing out.

Adapting a child’s environment with alteration in light, space and smells in conjunction with highly specialised therapeutic strategies can be effective in having a calming effect.

We have an accredited BTEC3 restraint training programme.
