Elm Green school is a residential school provision for upto 7 children and the curriculum is catered exclusively for autistic children and those that have been excluded.
We have a very experienced teaching team supported by specialist consultants that implement the most effective teaching strategies.
The School Curriculum is designed to be sufficiently flexible and is differentiated in order to meet the individual needs of all our pupils.
The Comprehensive Application of Behaviour Analysis to Schooling (CABAS®) is a research-driven system-wide approach providing individualised programmes for children and young people with and without disabilities.
Physical Development-This includes the fine motor skills that are important for school, such as holding and using scissors, and also gross motor skills, such as throwing a ball and jumping
ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) offers a number of programmes for all abilities
Each pupil has a Personal Education Plan (provided initially by the placing authority) or a Personal Education Target sheet, provided by the teacher at the school. As many of our pupils have current statements for special educational needs or are on the special needs register they would also have an Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.).
Where it is felt that the young person should follow or is required to follow the national curriculum (statemented pupils) then the school will follow the guidelines and schemes of work as provided by the QCA (Sept 2008)
